Final Evaluation of the project

The Estate We’ re In was an extremely successful video programme depicting an honest and grass root condition of Collingwood Estate and the need for both social and environmental improvements. It involved undertaking extensive background research on the estate and delving into an understanding of environmental concepts. For Swanlea students, this was something new and enjoyable. The entire project was profoundly educational and gave students vast knowledge regarding environmental topics and proved to be a fantastic demonstration of good practice in the curriculum areas of citizenship and citizen responsibilities.

Since this project was essentially an experiment in raising environmental awareness and developing new means of consulting with young people on residential estates, its success has meant that the initiative will be repeated elsewhere in the Borough.

The Estate We’re’ In even won a place in the launch of the Photomonth exhibition, an
annual event which attracts artists with international reputation. It was a great opportunity to raise the profile of Collingwood Estate and the talents of our students.
