The Enterprise Framework
The Enterprise framework offers a consistent
approach for schools, businesses and providers of Enterprise
Learning Programmes within Tower Hamlets. The framework sets
out, by year group and Key Stage, a set of recommended Enterprise
Learning Programmes from existing THEBP programmes, Young
Enterprise, businessdynamics and the National Foundation
for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). Many of the programmes
are available free to schools.

Young Enterprise - Primary
Programme (YEPP)
The Young Enterprise Primary Programme is the only enterprise learning
course for primary school children. There are six modules:
- Ourselves (4/5 year olds)
- Our families (6/7 year olds)
- Our community (7/8 year olds)
- Our City (8/9 year olds)
- Our Nation (9/10 year olds)
- Our World (10/11 year olds)
Business funding (c £1000) is required to support each Primary Programme
class, typically involving a Business Partner, Teacher Partner and around
25 children.

Young Enterprise - Project Business (YEPB)
Young Enterprise Project Business is a flexible programme consisting
of modules including the role of the consumer, basics of the economic
cycle, the market economy, money, business organization, workplace visits,
advertising, personal and business finance, savings and investment.
Business 'games' and role plays are used to re-enforce the learning
experience.
Business funding (c £700) is required to support each Project Business
class, typically involving a Business Partner, Teacher Partner and around
30 children.

Young Enterprise - Learn to Earn (YEL2E)
Young Enterprise 'Learn to Earn' enables young people to develop a
crucial understanding of the importance - and value - of life-long learning.
This 1-day programme teaches six 'lessons' - Making your own way, Playing
with Success, Exploring Careers, The cost of living, Knowing Yourself,
Setting Goals.
A board game helps illustrate the relationship between education and
achieving personal goals.
Business funding (c £700) is required to support each Project Business
class, typically involving a Business Partner, Teacher Partner and around
30 children.

Young Enterprise - Company Programme (YE CP)
The Company Programme is the Young Enterprise flagship
Students set up and run their own company over the course of one academic
year. They elect a board or directors, raise share capital, and market
and finance a product of their own choice. At the end of the year they
present a report and accounts to their shareholders.
Students can enter their companies in local, regional, national and
international competitions.
The programme contributes to meeting a range of academic qualifications.
Business funding (c £1200) is required to support each company.

NFTE Curriculum (NFTE)
NFTE provides a new, innovative approach to teaching business start
up skills through an internationally acclaimed academic and life-skills
curriculum.
Founded in New York in 1987, NFTE introduces young people from local
communities to the world of business and entrepreneurship by teaching
them how to develop and operate their own business, over one or two
years.
The curriculum links to 'Biztech' - an internet based source of comprehensive
business information
Students can enter their companies in various competitions.
The programme contributes to meeting a range of academic qualifications.
Business funding (c £1200) is required to support each company.

businessdynamics - New Horizons (BDNH)
businessdynamics 'New Horizons' is a new, one day event for up to 30
students designed to give those students, who are considering a career
in the related area, the chance to get a real feel for what their options
are and to ask questions of a business volunteer who already has a career
in that industry.
The day includes Action Planning where the students build a plan for
gaining additional information and employment in their chosen sector.
The programme contributes directly to the vocational GCSEs across all
eight subject areas.
Business funding (c £1150) is required to support each class of approximately
30 students.

businessdynamics - Blue Skies (BDBS)
businessdynamics 'Blue Skies' is an entrepreneur road show that gets
students in contact with entrepreneurs.
Designed for a 14-18 year old audience, entrepreneur presentations are
complimented by video and music, with live links played by resident
Blue Skies DJs, and a TV style business quiz show.
The programme has been running for two years with the London events
held at the NFT. The next programme runs in March 2004.
There is no direct cost to the school, apart from organising the students
and getting them to the venue.

businessdynamics - e-business (BD e-bus)
businessdynamics 'e-business' is a two day e-business focused programme
available to any school in the UK that is preparing their students for
the e-workplace.
Students learn about e-business by interacting with specially designed
exercises and material on a businessdynamics web-site. Quizzes and downloadable
resources make student learning fun and lasting.
There is no direct cost to the school, apart from organising the students.
Deutsche Bank fund the programme on a 'first come, first served' basis.
