In
order to transition successfully from the classroom to
the fast-paced and competitive business environment,
it is essential that students are provided with
the necessary skills. This knowledge-base is provided
by the Pathfinder, together with the essential supervision
and guidance from teachers. The
benefits of acquiring solid enterprise learning skills
at a relatively young age cannot be overstated.
Pathfinder
projects bring reality to text book examples, enabling
students to deal with the challenges of real-life
business situations. The variety of projects gave students
the opportunity to display their existing talents and
build new skills. The reaction of participants toward
an initiative is often a good monitor of success. In
the case of the Pathfinder, the smiling faces, clear
evidence of teamwork, comprehensive participation
and high levels of energy speak volumes for what
has been accomplished.
At
this early stage in the students' careers, profit-making
does not seem to be the main motivation.
Instead, it is the sense of achievement, fostered by
project supervisors, that encourages and drives the students.
Because of this attitude and the Pathfinder's innovative
approach, I have no doubt that success will
follow further down the road for all that have
taken part.
